Newberrytown restores iconic marker

Mar 31, 2025Mar 31, 2025

Newberrytown, York County, restored an iconic town marker on Friday morning.

Named after its shape, the keystone marker was unveiled beside the fire hall on York Haven Road.

Dominish Miller, a local historian, said the sign was hit by a car in the 1970s and put into storage until she and craftsmen restored it.

"I'm super excited," Miller said. "This one is about a three-year project. I first talked to the township and, you know, said if we can find these markers, I'd like to get them refurbished and put up. And, you know, we had to pay for it. We had to find the people that had the expertise, that knew what type of paint to use, to knew how to sandblast them and sand them and repaint them, so I'm really proud of them being able to do this."
